CAN GYM PROGRAM Ages 6+

We follow the CanGym program developed by Gymnastics Canada. Girls and boys learn the basics of skills & drills on vault, floor, bars, beam, tramp & conditioning. Children earn ribbons as they progress through levels. There are 12 levels & ribbons - red, tan, bronze, purple, blue, turquoise, silver, orange, yellow, green and gold. The gymnast has completed a ribbon when he/she has "mastered" each skill in that level. Some ribbons may take only one session to complete, while some may require multiple sessions.

Please note our new 'Intensive' classes on Fridays and Saturdays.  These classes will not run every week of the session; therefore, they are designed for those gymnasts who have only a few skills remaining to pass the level.  Coaches will focus on helping athletes master those outstanding skills.  Only athletes who have attempted the level several times are eligible to register in these classes.

Red - Must be 6 by start of class.
Introduction to our CanGym badge program. Gymnasts are introduced to basic gymnastics skills, including balances, forward and backward rolls, beginner cartwheels, beginner handstands, swings, hangs and basic trampoline skills.

Tan - prerequisite Red Passed
Gymnasts progress through the basic skills introduced in Red, with a focus on mastering basic body positions, as well as improving balance, coordination and spatial orientation.

Bronze - prerequisite Tan Passed
Gymnasts are introduced to intermediate gymnastics skills, including pullover, bridge and power hurdle. Conditioning activities are used to increase strength, endurance, power and flexibility.
