CAN GYM PROGRAM Ages 6+

We follow the Can Gym program developed by Gymnastics Canada.  Gymnasts learn the basics of skills & drills on vault, floor, bars, beam, trampoline and conditioning.  Athletes earn ribbons once they have "mastered" each skill in the level.  We offer co-ed and boys only classes.

Red - Must be 6 by start of class

Introduction to our Can Gym badge program. Gymnasts are introduced to basic gymnastics skills, including balances, forward and backward rolls, beginner cartwheels, beginner handstands, swings, hangs and basic trampoline skills.

Tan – Must be 6 by start of class  Prerequisite: Red

Gymnasts progress through the basic skills introduced in Red, with a focus on mastering basic body positions, as well as improving balance, coordination, and spatial orientation.

Copper – Must be 6 by start of class  Prerequisite: Tan

Gymnasts strengthen their foundation for the fundamental skills of handstands, cartwheels, pullovers and bridges.  Skills are broken down to allow gymnasts to learn the various components of each of these skills, while building strength and endurance.

Bronze - Must be 6 by start of class  Prerequisite: Copper

Gymnasts progress from working on individual skill components to connecting those elements into completed skills.  Bronze focuses on intermediate gymnastics skills, including pullovers, handstands, bridges, and power hurdles. Conditioning activities are used to increase strength, endurance, power, and flexibility.

Purple- Must be 8 by start of class  Prerequisite: Bronze

Gymnasts continue through intermediate gymnastics skills with the objective of increasing strength and endurance through skill combinations. Round-offs are introduced.

Blue- Prerequisite:  Purple

Gymnasts begin advanced gymnastics skills and refine intermediate skills, focusing on body positions, strength, flexibility, and power.  Inversions, also known as ‘flight skills’, are introduced in the form of handsprings.  Twisting skills are introduced on trampoline.

Turquoise   Prerequisite: Blue

Gymnasts refine advanced gymnastics skills such as handsprings, round-offs and dismounts.

Silver, Orange, Yellow, Green, Gold   Prerequisite: previous Can Gym level
